NBA Draft Open Thread: Will Austin Freeman or Chris Wright Get Drafted?
Tonight is the night! The 2011 NBA Draft has finally arrived, and we here at THE GLOBAL PHENOMENON are on pins and needles wondering whether Georgetown's Austin Freeman or Chris Wright will be selected and make their NBA dreams a reality. Freeman and Wright have had numerous workouts with NBA teams over the past few weeks that have been well documented, and it all comes down to tonight. IT ALL COMES DOWN TO TONIGHT DAMMIT. Join us, as we'll be here throughout the Draft (and maybe longer depending on the Cinemax programming), so feel free to stop by and drop some knowledge or perhaps your opinion on 'The Voice'.
Le floor is yours...

That was such a nice time
I still believe the 09-10 team should have won the National Championship. More than I think 06-07 team should have. Is that weird?
The 06-07 team was better
But so was the competition.
The 09-10 team, when on, was the best team in the country.

It's almost Draft time!
I just called my bookie and put $100 on Freeman and Wright each getting drafted and I have already spent the winnings. #badbets

true fact:
i have attended at least 5 drafts in person and got kicked out of madison square garden at one of them by stephen a. smith for heckling.
Casually.
addendum to true fact
i would provide documented evidence of this in the form of an email from stephen a but it was back when i had a hotmail address and i can’t access it because hotmail is horrendous.
Casually.
That would be tremendous documentation to have

Looking at who draft sites going in the second round
There’s no way Chris and Austin shouldn’t be drafted. Not saying they will, be but take a look at those mocks and tell me those players are better.
how do i not remember

this draft is ridiculous

severe drop in talent i think at this point
pretty much throwing darts and hope that something hits
except for marshon brooks
Casually.
leonard to putzers
i like the pick..gives pacers another scoring option and some interior toughness alongside hibbert and hansbrough
Casually.
That one hurts
Charles Jenkins, Marshon Brooks, Kenneth Faried and Chris Singleton are MUCH better than this kid
you guys think Kyrie pans out in the NBA?
I’m torn. Could easily see Derrick Williams being the star of this draft
"I don't know. I'm making this up as I go."
I think Kyrie is phenomenal
And Williams is at a crowded position in Minnesota. irving will get keys to Cleveland’s offense from the start and win Rookie of the Year
all duke players make great pros.
especially ones that have played in 10 games in college.
Casually.
i'd like the hornets to get marshon, but dont see it happening
wolves just traded jonny flynn to houston for brad miller
shocked that they gave up on a kid from cuse so fast
Casually.
There's nothing but contenders left in this round
Marshon could end up very, very happy if he goes in the next few picks.
Reminds me a lot of watching Dejuan Blair plummet down the draft board. How’d that turn out?

Another god damn comic book movie. Thor, green lantern, and xmen go back to school weren’t enough? I am big nerd, but I don’t even eat enough Oreos to justify going to see that many men in crappy costumes

AT LEAST IT’S FRIDAY FRIDAY

Bizzarely enough, I guess I understand the logic
Why pick an american person with a 2nd round pick anyway? Just pick someone holed up in Greater Arabia and in the 1/100 chance he becomes an all start, collect profit.
If a player you like goes undrafted, he’s going to sign with you immediately anyway if you offer him a contract.

NBA Draft/NBA Joke!!!!!!!!!
What a fucking waste of five hrs!!!!!! Sorry for wanting to be optimistic about the recruiting of guards here at Georgetown, but I was hoping that by seeing Freeman and Wright drafted in the second round, that the world would see that even here at “Big Man U” we can produce smart well rounded guards that are willing to put in work. I think WallaceAtTheLineShooting2 said it best,“why pick an american when you can offer him a contract to play and he will sign”!!! Who and where in the fuck were these kids from anyway, all these foreginers that will probably never play here in the USA. This was a total disrespect to the kids for all their hard work over the years, as well as their teams, their coaches, and their families…………For Austin Freeman and Chris Wright I say keep doing your thing boys your big break is around the corner. Follow your desires and it will be soo!!
Now I would like to here from the rest of you’ll out there, if you agree or disagree lets run the numbers up on this blog…………

by Hire Esherick on Jun 24, 2011 10:30 AM EDT up reply actions
The reality is that
since the NBA has expanded more globally now (also the internet), it’s really making it harder for kids this day in age to make a name for themselves (ie, who’ve put in work for x amount of years at a particular school) and grab some sort of recognition.
To be honest I’d thought that at least CWright would get picked b/c of him being a steady pg (who has progressed while running a system). Now in regards to Free, honestly he would have to become a certain ‘specialist’ to make it by the ‘NBA standards’ (see; Steve Kerr, Craig Hodges etc…)
Is it just me or should Casual Hoya stop live-blogging things that aren't Georgetown games?!?
By which I mean, LIVE Georgetown games, not tape-delays from three years earlier.
Worst blog ever
Good talk.
