Two weeks ago, I was planning my spring break around the Hoyas blowing through the final five games of the season and easily securing two byes in the Big East Tournament. Now? We're faced with potentially dropping into the bottom half of the conference and playing on Tuesday without ANY byes.
How we stay in the top half. After the jump
Here are the possibilities:
Georgetown gets a double-bye: NOT POSSIBLE. Our previous four games unfortunately knocked us out of any contention for this to happen.
Georgetown gets a single-bye: Simple answer? BEAT CINCY. However, if we lose to Cincy (please don't let this happen), two things need to happen: 1) Marquette needs to lose at least one of their two remaining games and 2) the loser of the UConn vs. WVU game tonight must also lose their last game of the season.
So.... if we lose to Cincy and either of those two things don't happen, we will most likely find ourselves playing DePaul and getting knocked out of the Big East Tournament on Tuesday and go into the NCAA tournament in one of the play-in games.
On the optimistic side, let's get revenge on Cincy, put up a win or two in the Big East tournament, and then steam roll through the NCAA's with a squad fired up by return of their fearless leader, Chris Wright (who will put up 30 a game and be named MVP of the tournament).
