he was at the selection show watch party tonight

put on a few pounds and he’ll be a great 3/4 guy for us. 23 and 11 in high school anywhere is good

what are the chances on drummond

really want him but conn is looking like #1

For every Gerry McNamara, there are three Eric Devendorfs.

Scout’s article has quotes from Greg. End of story.

Fantastic

Love this kid, Hollis 2.0, great skill and quickness. Leaves only one schollie for 2012 – so I think it means there has to be a transfer.

by bunk moreland on Mar 13, 2011 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions

I know who everyone wants it to be.

by hoyasincebirth on Mar 13, 2011 11:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Noel right?

No, I want ochefu. but Noel is a beast too, Best shot blocker since deke. Tough to pry him out of conn/providence but he is the guy we are recruiting that I most covet.

Btw, great job by the staff to capitalize on local talent. 2011 class is very solid.

by bunk moreland on Mar 13, 2011 11:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Your are completely right

I guess what I am saying I would rather have Noel over ochefu or Drummond or any one else we have recruited in the JTIII era. Either way, after christmas just want to close the deal.

by bunk moreland on Mar 14, 2011 12:09 AM EDT up reply actions

But do we land either?

We will be absolutely loaded as is going into 12-13 with Nate, Moses, Mikael, Tyler, and Brandon
The 3 might need a little love by that point

by Coach K's kneepads on Mar 14, 2011 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions

I think you are right on that too

which is another plus for Noel, a year later than all but bolden so less risk of putting pressure on the other classes. With ochefu, hard to believe Moses and Adams would be thrilled

by bunk moreland on Mar 14, 2011 12:20 AM EDT up reply actions

it'll be perhasp UConn

b/c the Friars let go of Keno Davis

by Big Spoon on Mar 13, 2011 11:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I meant i know who everyone wants to transfer.

by hoyasincebirth on Mar 14, 2011 12:00 AM EDT up reply actions

oh

then there is no argument at all

by Coach K's kneepads on Mar 14, 2011 12:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Btw - thanks for breaking this news

Good hoya day, especially relative to the last two weeks

by bunk moreland on Mar 14, 2011 12:04 AM EDT up reply actions

the Hoyas need more 'shooters' ie SG

I’m unsure why are the Hoyas will be so top-heavy in the SF department? Now regarding the transfer, perhaps this is VS initials all over this one.

by Big Spoon on Mar 13, 2011 11:48 PM EDT up reply actions

I think it's JB

His time will be eaten up by the Hopkins and Adams. Moses too.

by Coach K's kneepads on Mar 13, 2011 11:51 PM EDT up reply actions

I have my doubts it'll be Vee.

He will get heavy playing time next season backing up both Jason Clark and Markel. The odd man out in the current rotation is Benimon. With the class coming in and the likely improvement of Moses, Benimon moves to the far end of the bench. I would not be at all surprised if JTIII were encouraging Jerelle to transfer to a school like GMU or ODU where he’d be a much better position fit and also see real playing time. Just my gut…

by hoyaparanormal on Mar 13, 2011 11:52 PM EDT up reply actions

Perhaps

you may be right, I totally forgot about JB on this one, from I’m seeing is that JT3 is adding some length in the rotation, but I still feel though the Hoyas need another ‘scorer/slasher’ type of player in a SG.

Also unless a redshirted Bowen will be legit for next season.

by Big Spoon on Mar 13, 2011 11:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Expectation of more minutes doesn't necessarily keep guys from transferring...

see ex. 1, vern macklin.

I am a tad concerned about the back court. We are really playing with fire here, are we not? we need to get a blue-chipper PG in 2012 and even then we will be relying heavily on said frosh in the 2012 season with an otherwise loaded front court.

getting Daniel is priority No. 1 but even if we pick up Anderson, does that help us with 1G, 2G and dead-on shooters? That is an important element to our offense.

Maybe coach really is going to move Hollis to 2G by his senior year.

by Brasky on Mar 14, 2011 7:43 AM EDT up reply actions

the terps

are perhaps banking on Judge to come on board now

by Big Spoon on Mar 13, 2011 11:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Interesting

Didnt they get a German SF already?

by bunk moreland on Mar 13, 2011 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions

they did grab a international sf

but also they still have at least one more schollie to take care of (Judge was looked at by both the Hoyas and UMD)

by Big Spoon on Mar 14, 2011 12:01 AM EDT up reply actions

ESPN has finally changed their site to reflect him committing to Georgetown.

by hoyasincebirth on Mar 14, 2011 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions

I followed him on twitter and welcomed him to the Georgetown family and he followed me back so I assume scout is correct.

by hoyasincebirth on Mar 13, 2011 11:35 PM EDT reply actions

If there is a transfer

I doubt it is Sanford. We’re adding a lot of frontcourt players. It wouldn’t make much sense for a guard to leave.

What are these assertions!?

by DHB Enterprises on Mar 13, 2011 11:58 PM EDT reply actions

This suggests to me Otto Porter to Missouri is a done deal

Too bad, as I really felt getting him would set this team for the next three years; Porter sounds like an absolutely perfect fit for the Jeff Green high-post slot JTIII most covets for his offensive system, and from the sounds of it, he’s a better defender than Green was.
However, I’ll take solid depth, and I think Benimon is a transfer-in-waiting. His Facebook post “I suck,” following some ugly comments from his own team’s cheering section will go down as one of the sadder episodes in recent Hoya basketball lore (off the court, of course…)

by hoyaparanormal on Mar 14, 2011 12:03 AM EDT reply actions

also Kyle Anderson as well?

So hopefully the Hoyas can grab either Ochefu or Noel

by Big Spoon on Mar 14, 2011 12:32 AM EDT reply actions

Sanford/Benimon

Why would Vee go anywhere? I think he has been underutilized yet performed great when he was in the game. So hard to put up the percentage numbers that he has without ever playing long enough to even break a sweat. We will need his energy and his scoring next year. Can’t see JTIII pushing anyone out but Jerelle is likely to see his playing time diminish significantly so he may opt out on his own…………or maybe not. I think he is a good guy committed to doing his best. If he want minutes……yes ODU or the like. Still very high quality basketball but perhaps a greater role for him. But hard to call. The poor guy has really been victimized this year……and I think unfairly.

With paranoia,

by hoyaparanoia on Mar 14, 2011 1:10 AM EDT reply actions

The thing about Jerelle...

While some drunk idiot students obviously have yelled some dumb things at him, the students who actually know about bball (i.e. the ones who are in the front rows) are smart enough to appreciate what he is… which is not really all that talented offensively.

Additionally, I’ve seen Jerelle around campus a lot the past two years and (unlike Rivers) he is a really nice guy, and everyone seems to really like him. The only reason I could see him transferring would be if JTIII was encouraging it, and I think JTIII might encourage it, and not for selfish reasons, but because Jerelle could be a really solid player at a mid major.

Anyway, thats my two cents. And I’m liking this recruiting class. Lack of guards a bit concerning, but maybe JTIII grooming Hollis to play the 2? Would be huge for his NBA stock as well.

Is Whittiington any good?

And does it impact our ability to lure in a marquee talent?

by tjm62 on Mar 14, 2011 1:47 AM EDT reply actions

FWIW

The UMD folks will tell you he isnt’ any good at all, just like they stated about Hopkins from Dematha who turned them down to go to the Hoyas instead!

by Big Spoon on Mar 14, 2011 7:12 AM EDT up reply actions

they say that about anyone they don’t get.

by hoyasincebirth on Mar 14, 2011 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions

exactly

and they’re screaming that whittington isn’t ACC caliber anyways…smh!

seriously

by Big Spoon on Mar 14, 2011 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

jeez i hope he isn't ACC caliber

we have higher standards than THAT
