Big East to Offer Boise State, Navy, Air Force and UCF; Raise Exit Fee to $10 million
We interrupt today's joyful Midnight Madness coverage to bring you news that the Big East is being proactive!
NEW YORK (AP) -- An official in the Big East tells The Associated Press that the conference plans to double its exit fee to $10 million dollars, then invite Boise State, Navy and Air Force as football-only members, and Central Florida as a member in all sports.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the Big East had not authorized anyone to speak publicly about its plans, said Commissioner John Marinatto was in Cincinnati meeting with representatives from UCF. The official said those invites could be out as early as next week.
The Big East said earlier this week it wanted to expand to 12 football schools.
Good news as far as Conference survival goes, and I look forward to casual road trips to Orlando for Hoyas-Knights. No doubt we'll have more on this in the upcoming days, weeks, months, and years, especially since that $10 million exit fee will be chump change for the current Big East schools that are looking to leave for greener pastures.

Football Schools
Are what thu would be looking to add. They want to have 12 for a championship game. I don’t know if they would want to add another just basketball school. It would help if villanova would come up to d-1. It would make the numbers a lot easier.

Then again
if TCU would’ve stayed, that would set up the BE North (Boise St) vs. BE South (TCU), for years to come.
But we’ll never know now!
Houston wouldn't be terrible
solid football and hoops programs and fun town to roadtrip to
Casually.
to be honest i'm not sure why tulane hasn't been brought up
i heard some Big 12 noise surrounding it, but Big East might be better fit. similar school size to georgetown, solid academics.
oh, and it happens to be located in NEW ORLEANS.
Casually.
Now that we can make a road trip to Orlando
I think that we should all learn this song. (Especially because we are all stepping away from the ledge now)

Back to drawing board?
Mountain West and C-USA just merged.
super duper middle of the road conference
looks like mountain west and c-usa are not to happy about our plans
BE Random thoughts:
Football Only:
BE North:
Boise St.
Air Force
WVU
Rutgers
UConn
Cincy
BE South:
USF
UCF
Louisville
Navy
Houston ()
SMU ()
Basketball Only
BE North:
Georgetown
Villanova
UConn
Rutgers
ND
Seton Hall
Marquette
BE South:
Louisville
DePaul
WVU
UCF
USF
Houston/Butler
Memphis/Xavier
I understand that the demographics doesn’t really match up well, however I think this could be something very interesting indeed. Furthermore I would really like the BE to invite Butler and or Xavier to the basketball fold (this would really make the Midwestern ties even stronger, in regards to recruiting purposes) if Memphis nor Houston wouldn’t be viewed as possible schools of interest.
