On a teleconference earlier today, our Presidents and Chancellors authorized the BIG EAST Conference to engage in formal discussions with additional institutions and are considering moving to a model that includes 12 football playing schools.

New plan...
BE Conference breaks away from the NCAA. Is the first league that pays salaries to the student athletes. Boom. How does it taste ACC?
Clearly I’m joking…right?
He wore the patch, a Georgetown warm-up jacket and a long chain around his neck with a photograph of Tupac Shakur dangling from it.

I have no idea about the legal and monetary realities of this
But this would make me so happy.
This is where things are going anyway, and even without football, getting there first would be potentially huge.
Unfortunately, it will never, ever, ever happen. When it happens, it will be football that makes it happen. Or Calipari. But probably football.

At this point
shouldn’t Reed at least put a call into the SEC. Instead of trying to make Missouri or WVU work, add Georgetown. No threat in football (no need to cut the pie further), balanaced schedule for other sports, access to the DC market, good academic rep.
I know culturally its a terrible fit, but somebody needs to do something.

Seems pretty interested and I love they turned the big 12 down, SINCE IT WOULDN’T BE GOOD FOR THEIR STUDENT ATHLETES. What a novel idea…
I just don’t know if they bring much tv audience? Good schools though.

How many will be playing basketball?
I know they had talked about the academies for football only, but am not sure what they would be considering for the other schools.
Never let facts get in the way of a good argument
Did they decide to up the exit fee?
That would be a more telling statement regarding the stability of the conference. Why would the invited teams want to come if the teams who invite you are looking to leave as well?
