Despite demolishing a then-ranked Syracuse team last Tuesday in McDonough, the Lady Hoyas dropped a double overtime heartbreaker to Marquette on Saturday ending their 21 game home winning streak. Foul trouble killed the team late in the second half with the top 3 scorers notching 4 fouls and two of them fouling out during the overtime periods. The loss dropped the team to 18 (AP)/19 (USA Today) but then again, outside of the top 2-3 teams, the rankings don't matter. They basically just recognize the 25 or so best teams in WBB.
This week the Lady Hoyas are enjoying a week long break before they face the Friars (is their a female equivalent?) in Providence on Saturday and head to South Bend next week. Next home game isn't until 1/22 vs. Nova (and since there's no men's conflict, you have no excuse not to come.)
