Georgetown Adds UNC-Asheville and Loyola to Out of Conference Home Schedule

I could go on and on about the quality of Georgetown's out of conference home schedule thus far, but this comment by one of our Casualties pretty much sums it up nicely:

too lazy to start another thread....

but INSANELY happy to see some more great home, out of conference opponents announced today…..Loyola and UNC! Oh whoops, that’s UNC ASHEVILLE. So we are AT Temple, Missouri (in Kansas City, I think), Memphis, ODU, the Charleston Tournament….and as of now, have Tulane as our marquee out of conference home game thus far. Thank God I pony up for tickets every year. 2 games yet to be announced…gotta be one good home game…right?

temple and odu are decent games. problem is, if we win, we were supposed to, if we lose, it is huge news.

the loss to odu last year wasnt terrible

Good talk.

1) I’d argue that App st. game is the best OOC home game based on RPI.
2) We still have home games against Cinci, louisville, marquette, Pitt, St. Johns, Syracuse, and WV.
3) Still 2 more chances for a good home game. It only takes 1.
4) Last year we had ODU, Temple, and Duke. year before we had Memphis, year before that it was michigan, year before that we had oregon, year before that vanderbilt and duke, year before that Illinois, (temple and penn st too technically) those are our marque OOC home games in JTIII’s tenure.
5) Next year we’ll have memphis at home at the very least.

Utah State? From Andy Katz's Twitter:

“Great game for Stew Morrill and Utah State. Signed to play at Georgetown on Dec. 4. No return, though, according to USU (and that’s OK).

I wouldn't call Utah State "marquee"...

…but they’ll provide a good home test in early December for the Hoyas. Year in and year out they’re pretty solid, lost first round NCAA’s last year. Would have liked to see us return the game at Utah State, it’s apparently a pretty good atmosphere there, but oh well.

I don’t get all the moaning about us not having a marquee home out of conference game each year, early in the season. It’s obviously nice if we can get one, but if not, there are always plenty of marquee home matchups during the Big East schedule.

I’m all right with the schedule so far for 2010-11, and JT3’s general scheduling philosophy.

not the home schedule...

but the bracket for the Charelston classic announced according to a mason blog:

actually turned out not bad for us. Coastal carolina won their leagues regular season, but lost their conference torunament. they had an RPI of 134 lost year. not bad opening game. Then we’ll get wofford who went to the NCAAs last year and had an RPI of 74 and beat louisville last year.

Then we’ll probably get NC st and hope their freshman live up to their billing.

should actually be a good tournament.
