Sam Thompson Set to Visit, Myles Davis Still Lists Hoyas
Sam Thompson, a 6'6'' wing out of Chicago, said he plans to visit Georgetown the weekend of September 18th. He also states that Georgetown has now officially offered a scholarship.
There was some confusion as to whether George Mason or Georgetown was the school on Myles Davis' final list, turns out, it's both. They join UVA, Pitt, Villanova and St. Joe's. Still is unclear whether or not he will stay in the 2011 class or reclassify to 2012.

I think
he’d be the best athlete we’ve had since Iverson.
I’d be ecstatic building a class around either he or Hood.
Strengths:
Thompson is a long lean versatile player. He has the talent and skill to play all three perimeter positions and be productive. He can score on the break by running the floor or rebounding and leading the break where he can get to the rim or draw and kick to an open teammate. In the half court Thompson can make plays off the dribble with his excellent ball handling and passing ability. He can also hit the open mid range jumper off the catch or dribble. Thompson has a good feel for the game and is a capable multiple position defender. He is a good shot blocker for a wing player as well.
Weaknesses:
Thompson must improve his strength in order to be a better finisher when contact is involved. He also needs to work to become a better three point shooter. His shot preparation needs attention. At times Thompson will disappear during games especially when he is playing off the ball. His effort and energy is very inconsistent which takes away from his overall production in areas of his game that he has the talent to be very productive.
Bottom Line:
Thompson has the size, talent and skill to be productive in every game he plays. He can make plays off the dribble and his overall versatility makes him special. Added strength, consistent effort and an improved jumper take this young talented players game to the next level.

good thing about our system
With the quality of looks we get…it usually takes average shooters and makes them good shooters and turns good shooters into great shooters.
(unless your name is Jeremiah Rivers)
which is why I’ve also kind of been intrigued to take a flyer on Bishop Daniels as well.
but as noted, kid can defend..and that’s probably needed the most.
left after this year
clark, sims, thompson, sanford, benimon, lubick, bowen, starks, abraham
add thompson/hood/hubert/daniels and we will be an incredible quick, lean and sharp shooting team.

Give me a finisher
I want a kid that will take the backdoor pass and punish the rim. No more layups. This kid is exactly what I want. We have shooters. We have guys that can draw the double team and distribute. We lack finishers……..get me this kid.
