went to a few games yesterday

It was my first time at Kenner and I had no idea what was going on. After watching Benimon try to take over the game he was playing in, I got to see Vee and JV play with Marcus Ginyard, all of who looked pretty good. Vee was making people look stupid when he had the ball in his hands. JV was massive as always.

The final game I saw was between Wright’s and Sims’ team and some team with a bunch of older guys. Sims looked pretty terrible in the paint and was getting pushed around. He even took a three early on. CW looked pretty good. More than once he would just bolt down the court on a fast break, catch the ball like he was a wide receiver, and get an easy layup.

calling it now

Based solely on a second hand account from Kenner League, sims aint going to get there. Lubick starts at PF. Starks, Hollis, Bowen off the bench. Moses Sims and Benimon fight for scap minutes.

I'd really like it to be

Wright, Freeman, Hollis, Lubick/Henry, Vaughn with Clark as 6th man spelling Hollis and Austin

With lubick on the floor no one’s greasing us on the boards. He’s got a great nose for the ball. Also I think people are too harsh on sims. I only saw his first game, but I think he can give us some solid minutes. He’s not going to out muscle people but he can be a serviceable big. People have already formed their opinion of sims so see what they want to see. Summer league is a terrible place to evaluate how much a player will contribute the following year. He looks less loss to me and looked good running the court with chris which hopefully we’ll see more of this year.

Opinions formed in Kenner

A couple of years ago I was psyched after Sims scored like 30 points and grabbed 20 boards in a Kenner game.

Casually.

Game I saw

Lubick was very physical and scrappy down low…had an excellent tip-in on a rebound. I think having a bunch of guy rotating through the four spot would not be a terrible was to start out the year and see who comes along…that was really what happened (i think) with Vaughn last year
