Roy and Greg together in the front court?

10. Indiana Pacers - Greg Monroe, PF (Georgetown sophomore)
This seems to be what the Pacers fans want and I'm happy obliging them. Pairing him in the frontcourt with fellow Hoya Roy Hibbert would also create one of the biggest (if not the the biggest) frontline in the NBA. Monroe is smart and skilled, though he doesn't seem to have the heart most people would prefer out of a lottery big man. Maybe Tyler Hansbrough can transfer some of his?

Hansbrough has heart

Can’t play basketball, but he has heart.

Casually.

biggest frontline

and “most self-aware, humble, all-round good guy frontline” as well, surely?

total BS

Monroe has heart, I have no idea where people get this from. Yes, as a freshman, he wasn’t as aggressive as he should have been, but he definitely was aggressive down the stretch for Gtown in his sophomore year. Also, he plays within the Gtown system which emphasized ball movement and unselfishness, so of course he’s not going to be a ball hog.

Completely agree

I actually found him to be more demonstrative than most players under JT3. Never really understood where this came from.

Not sure I can take his analysis seriously

“26. Oklahoma City Thunder – Stanley Robinson SF/PF (UConn senior)
I really like Robinson and he seems like an OKC type of guy – a lanky, athletic defender that can play multiple positions. This is also probably a good time to say I’m not a fan of Jeff Green.

Stanley Robinson > Jeff Green? Maybe for the SportsCenter highlights, but probably not if you want to win games.

They’re pretty even in sports center highlights too. Jeff was throwing down some mean dunks in game 6. Robinson is a worse shooter than jeff is. He’s pretty much worse than jeff in anything. Have to remember this is SB not an expert.

Pacers take Monroe

Means he would likely play a lot of minutes. This is bad for the tiny miniscule hope that he Greg won’t hire an agent and think about coming back.

Rookie Pay Scale?

So how much, if any, flexibility is there in the NBA rookie pay schedule? There’s a huge difference in the figures between the No. 1 pick and the No. 10 pick (Greg Monroe projected pick).

Assuming no lock-out next year or huge changes in the collecitve bargaining agreement, would Greg be raionale to defer one more year in hopes up being a top 3 pick next year?

by 96Hoyagrad on May 3, 2010 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

not after seeing what happened to da'sean butler...

i hate it, but leaving was the right choice for him. he could have made close to twice as much next year going top 3, but probably not worth the risk of injury/lockout.

Good talk.

I hear yeah....

I hear yeah. I would have a hard time turning down $1.8 million this year versus the shot at getting $4 million next year but with a signficant downside risk.

although...

if monroe has stayed, and the NBA went to lockout in 2011, at least monroe would have one more year of eligibility to fall back on.

kyle singler deferring the draft to return for his senior year is idiotic, if nba has a lockout, he will have fun playing in europe.

although i guess he was going there anyway

Good talk.

Monroe's "heart"...

is questioned because he is like, you know, intelligent. Most guys that can express a thought beyond “me like basketball/football” are questioned about their “heart”. Look at Rolle from FSU. Only in the world of pro sports is being a Rhodes Scholar a bad thing.

Never mistake effort for achievement.
