Tracking Tiger: Day 2 of The Masters
Hello, friends. And welcome to Day 2 of The 2010 Masters Championship. We're live here at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. The players and fans today have been greeted with beautiful skies and a staunch breeze, but out from the shadow of the azaleas and towering dogwoods emerged a bigger story, the long-awaited return of Tiger Woods. Woods fired a first round career best 68 yesterday, and is within striking distance of the leaders, which include golf greats Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, and Tom Watson.

On the course today we have Hire Esherick at the par 3 6th, itsllthatmatters on 10, Lordnick and Jeff Green's Dad at Amen Corner, and as always Bobby Clampett on 15. We'll be following Tiger's round and providing updates all day.
But first, don't forget to check out Jennifer Love Hewitt in an all-new episode of The Ghost Whisperer tonight at 8pm, right here on America's most-watched network.
Thanks for joining us.

Monroe to return next year???
According to the Washington Examiner:
one NBA agent has said the buzz is that the sophomore center was leaning toward returning next year to Georgetown

interesting but nothing new, im wary of getting my hopes up
Good talk.
by Hire Esherick on Apr 9, 2010 10:17 AM EDT up reply actions
I'm starting to think though that it could make sense to stay another year....
look at everyone declaring this year… who is left??
If Monroe waited another year and the player agreement thing was worked out, Monroe could find himself a higher lottery pick than he is now simply by default. The only people he would have to contend with would be one and done freshmen.
It's not me, It's you
by SomebodyBuyAustinaSteak on Apr 9, 2010 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions
He would have a very good chance of being a top 3 pick
I have no facts, evidence, or reporting to back that up.
It's not you, it's me.
harrison barnes and brandon knight probably go 1-2 next year
ed davis is probably only PF/C he competes with in 2011 draft
but…
Why Willie Warren and Da’Sean Butler should be a warning
Good talk.
by Hire Esherick on Apr 9, 2010 10:26 AM EDT up reply actions
I think its almost certain Davis declares
But you are right, not many kids left for next year. That said even if Greg leads us to the promised land next year, I dont think he is top 3 b/c of stupid concerns he is not athletic enough. NBA Gms love athletes. That why Ty Thomas was was essentially a #2 pick. They would probably take barnes, knight, sullinger, or some Baltic kid over Greg.
The longer it goes, the more I let myself hope he is staying.
by bunk moreland on Apr 9, 2010 11:32 AM EDT up reply actions
I still don't understand the athletic thing...
Shaq destroyed people and might be one of the most unathletic basketball players I’ve seen (aside from pierre henderson-niles)
by TheDoctorIsIn on Apr 9, 2010 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions
Shaq is a force of nature
who somehow combined ridiculous brute strength with insane quickness and footwork. “Athletic” doesn’t mean ripped and fast.
Even if the NBA doesn't get a new CBA...
Won’t they still hold a 2011 NBA draft? (I’ve been wondering this for the past week or so.)
The example I’d turn back to is ‘98… the season was locked out for a few months and there were only 50 games that year, but they still held a ’98 draft. (That’s the year that the league was graced with Paul Pierce, Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, and Antawn Jamison, among others.) If basketball-reference.com is to be believed, all those guys still earned their paychecks in 98-99 (although I’m not sure if the contracts were somehow pro-rated).
So even if the NBA locks out… as long as it doesn’t lock out for the full year, does Greg stand anything to lose by declaring in 2011, financially?
swoosh? nahhhh...
by Vernon Macklin's Free Throw Stroke on Apr 9, 2010 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions
I think it has more to do with
whether or not the CBA changes the age limit for declaring- if it goes away, then you a get double draft class. If it goes up, then it could help him. Also the new rookie scale might get pushed down, since players are more likely to sacrifice rookie salaries for future players as long as they can keep their big payday toward the end of their careers.
by bunk moreland on Apr 9, 2010 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Rookie salaries should definitely get pushed down
Thabeet is guaranteed $7.7m over two years. If i was an owner, I would be furious about paying unproven players that amount.
Good talk.

I shot a 98 at East Potomac last week
My best there is an 89, and my best overall is an 85. Handicap probably around 20.
my best overall is an 84, usually shoot in 93-95 range on real courses from blues
