Monroe Decision by April 12?
While the April 25th deadline has been accurately thrown about as the definitive deadline for entering the NBA Draft (and thus Greg Monroe's decision), I came across an interesting piece of news while reading about Evan Turner today:
Because he declared for the NBA draft before an April 12 deadline, his departure will not lead to Ohio State receiving an Academic Progress Rate penalty. The basketball program was penalized after the late withdrawals of Greg Oden (2007) and Kosta Koufos (2008).
Could this mean that JTIII and the athletic department have told Greg that April 12th is his deadline so that our APR doesn't get nailed? Mind you, this is pure, unadulterated, slightly delusional speculation, but I'm all for moving this decision up by two weeks. I can't take the agony anymore--every time I log on to this website, butterflies fill my stomach and I pee my pants a little bit in hopes of seeing the announcement. Not so sanitary, especially in a 90-degree dorm room that has a broken air conditioner.
Stay Casual, my friends.

Don't think this is an NBA/NCAA Rule
April 12th is an internal Ohio State deadline because the school runs on the quarter system. Turner had to declare before the 12th and withdraw from classes otherwise he could be counted in the 2010 spring semester and then would have left in the middle of an academic session – causing an APR violation.
He had to enroll in Spring quarter in order to play in the Tourney, since their winter session ended in March.
Leaving early still affects APR, I guess leaving in the middle of a semester has more severe penalties?
Good talk.
Ohio State runs on the quarter system?
What are they, an elementary school? Does playing on the basketball team count as a PE credit?
