Can someone explain to me the historical context
of hoyatalk and hoyaballa
a lovely tale
hoyaballa used to post about recruiting a lot on hoyatalk, but then last year (08-09) after the collapse the board went crazy and hoyaballa talked to a recruit that got scared away from gtown because of what he read on hoyatalk. balla then started his own blog.
all the gtown blogs got their pros and cons. except this one, only cons. but at least its entertaining and somewhat informative

Hope everyone is doing well. We are excited to have the new site going, and we hope you all enjoy it. The reason that we started HoyaBalla is obvious. Another site jumped the shark. I really do not care if an internet message board is completely dysfunctional. However, the other day a friend of mine was speaking with a very important Gtown recruit that told him he read that other board and wondered if that was indicative of the Gtown fan base (unacceptable). Naturally, that was the last straw with us (not to mention it interrupted my vacation). Thus we have launched this site. We hope over the coming months to provide you with all good stuff Hoya related, and have some fun in the process. You know you will get the best and most update Hoya recruiting info, as our reporters and scouts will be covering the country giving you the latest on Hoya prospects, FREE. We have already informed many recruits that this will be the site for them to follow Gtown hoops, as we will do with future Hoya prospects that pop on the radar. So that garbage never happens again. Of course we will keep everyone abreast of all the goings on with our current Hoya team, and former Hoya players. We are all Hoya family, so if any of you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to let us know. Please try and use your old screen names from the other board, so it is an easier transition.
This board will NOT have trolls running amok or mods that are indifferent (or have penis envy because GU football is irrelevant). We will bounce a troll, whiner, or poser immediately. Anybody that wants to complain about the “system” , recruiting, or the direction of the program had better not bother posting. Because you will not last long. Heck, you will not last at all. LOL . We will embrace healthy disagreement, that is fine. I enjoy telling MCI that Jay Leno is running all of his shows off of the air(since he was the only person that watched them anyway). We certainly are not a pollyannish monolith, as I am as critical of an over-weight slow SG as anybody.

What kind of forewarning will we get if Monroe declares?
I would think he wouldn’t declare on a weekend, right? Also, would he give a press conference or otherwise alter his schedule? If we see on twitter that he is going to a class or something today, can we assume that means he isnt announcing today?

With the result possibly being leaked ahead of time.
I don’t see why a morning class would impact that, they can do these things on campus.

I doubt he’ll give any indication over twitter… staying or going, it’ll be a press conference or press release, which could be pulled together very quickly, so don’t let his class schedule get your hopes up.
Anyone know someone who works for the Athletic Dept., in McDonough gym, or for Gtown’s PR dept?
