Joe Lunardi of ESPN currently has Georgetown as a #3 seed, and #9 on his S-Curve. With Robbie Hummel going down, there is one #1 seed up for grabs.

Hypothetically, if Georgetown won out, would they get a #1 seed?

No way

7 losses? I don’t think so, even with a BE tourney win. Even if we win out, I still think ’Cuse, Kansas, Kentucky and either Kansas State or Duke depending on their respective conference tourneys.

agree

i think we should lose and become a 16 seed to purdue.

Good talk.

by Hire Esherick on Feb 26, 2010 4:44 PM EST up reply actions

Here's the thing though

The sheer amount of quality wins if we won out is staggering.

Temple, Butler (Neutral), UConn, @Pitt, Duke, Villanova, @Louisville, @WVU, Notre Dame, Pitt (BET), Villanova (BET), Syracuse (BET)

It's not you, it's me.

by Jeff Green's Dad on Feb 26, 2010 4:48 PM EST up reply actions

and the losses...

Old Dominion, @Rutgers, South Florida

Good talk.

Wrong Question

The better question (and more likely scenario) is how far can the Hoyas fall should they LOSE out?

Let’s say 3 straight losses to end the season followed by a casual flameout in the BET against an opponent like UConn.

19-11 (9-9). Can the Hoyas, based in SOS and RPI, still be any worse than a 5 seed? If someone told you the Hoyas would have been a 5 seed this year wouldn’t you have taken it and run?

Casually.

by CasualHoya on Feb 26, 2010 4:44 PM EST reply actions

Noooo

I’d rather not even contemplate that scenario. It’s like we all know the world COULD end on 12/21/2012, but why discuss it?

In a heartbeat

when was the last time a 5 seed had double digit losses and under 20 wins?

Manley Field House is officially closed!

touche

but when was the last time a team had under 20 wins but 5 wins over top 25 rpi teams

i dont think georgetown’s season is comparable to any team in the past.

if we went 9-9, we would probably end up in 8th in BE. when was last time a 5 seed finished 8th in their conference?

TOO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT

Good talk.

by Hire Esherick on Feb 26, 2010 4:57 PM EST up reply actions

how bout 16 wins....

but 4 over the top 12 rpi teams? oh right, last season.

by Scruggsthugs on Feb 27, 2010 10:50 AM EST up reply actions

According to Lunardi...
Chris (Washington, D.C.)
What would Georgetown have to do to secure a 2 seed?

Joe Lunardi (3:37 PM)
I think that ship has sailed, Chris.

Now, I’m a little confused as to how the team he rates #9, who still has at least one (maybe more) game left against his top 8 teams can’t move up a spot. Or maybe Lunardi just can’t read.

by Vee Sanford's Next-door Neighbor on Feb 26, 2010 6:02 PM EST reply actions

Yeah that makes no sense. If we really are number 9 (if the season ended today—that’s how he does this right?) you’d have to think that were we to beat WVU and two of WVU/Pitt/Nova/Cuse in the BET that we’d move up.

What are these assertions!?

by DHB Enterprises on Feb 26, 2010 6:15 PM EST up reply actions

He definitely read that as “1 seed” based on his answer

Even if you didn't go tomorrow...

You could stll see Monroe play at Verizon next year when the Bullets (yeah, that’s right) succumb to local pressure and take him with the 3rd pick in the Draft.

Casually.

first Gtown game AND first Zards game?

I’d almost rather see him play for the Lakers…

But at least he wont be banished to the D league

Are you stopping by the Irish Channel then

for your Casual headband?

(I haven’t made it there yet due to my stnt in the asylum)

by MerlinWilson'sSister on Feb 26, 2010 10:31 PM EST up reply actions

Is it far from the Verizon Center?

If I can walk it and my girlfriend is willing I’ll make sure to stop by.

how much are the headbands?

by David St. Martin on Feb 26, 2010 10:53 PM EST up reply actions

You need to read the blogs here more often

It is about a block and a half from the Verizon Center….
5th and H Sts. (500 H Street to be exact)

The headbands are free to readers and posters of this blog… All you need to do is identify yoruself to the Casual folks hanging in and around the pub….

The only rule of the bar is that people (using the term loosely for certain folks) that order rounds of drinks must pay for them when they are preparing to leave…..

by MerlinWilson'sSister on Feb 26, 2010 11:05 PM EST up reply actions

Yea sorry I dont run around DC too much

I thought the headbands were free but I didnt want to seem rude or presumptuous.

Girlfriend gives the thumbs up.

Ill be there at 1030 and power chug something casual.

are you heading to the game after?

by David St. Martin on Feb 26, 2010 11:11 PM EST up reply actions

I will be at the game tomorrow as long as I don't have flashbacks

And need to head back to the asylum (I kept having hourly visions about a young, African-American athlete stomping in front of me shouting “Y’all come to see Dominique Jones play!”… I was was relegated to spending the last 3+ weeks in a padded room)….

My offer from the Villanova game still holds…. Stop by my section and find me and I will buy you (and your girlfriend) a Miller Lite…..

by vivalajolla on Feb 26, 2010 11:24 PM EST up reply actions

2 blocks

Corner of 5th & H. Look for the Red Roof Inn, whose hallways you can retire to later if necessary.

Cost of headbands? Simply a declaration of your devotion to all things Casual.
