OK
Here we go fellas it does'nt look good, we seem to have more infighting on the team, and it is starting to have its effect on the players. This does not bode well for the rest of the regular season or tourny, If I was a betting man I would say we should be ready for a 2-3 or 1-4 finish, first round exit out of the BET, and the same for the tourney. We have a player on the team who think they are way better then what he really is, and his negaitve attitude and crying is at best getting on the other players nerves. They are not practicing well, and once again the chemistry is starting to errode because of this player. Its sad but I think this season maybe over if JTIII doesnt handle the situation this time, once and for all. Dont be surprised if we start to see Vee start to get minutes, but all in all it is not good in Hoya Land, and im pissed off. We have a chance to do something special this year as we have shown that we can play with any team in the nation but jealousy and stubborness are going to kill this season. Damn Shame.
We may not agree with anything you say, but we will fight to the death for your right to say it.

How do you know this?
Are you basing all of these observations on just watching Chris Wright’s body language during the Rutgers game??
by PhillyPeetzWitRanch on Feb 17, 2010 11:43 AM EST reply actions
I was told
That I could write it up but I cannot give away the person or persons who tell me info. But for one I just hope our boys can overcome this, because we have all the pieces in place to make a run. As you see I did not call any players by name, not going to speculate that.
WE ARE GEORGETOWN NOW AND FOREVER
If this is true...
…bench him.
Rick Stansbury benched his star player for disciplinary reasons last night, in what was their biggest and most important game of the year – could have cost MSU a tourney bid.
JT3 needs to show Wright and the team who is in charge – if this is in fact true, I would be happier to see Thompson take a stand than give in and watch the team melt in front of my eyes.
Good talk.
I could see
if there are disagreements between players things like that, it happens, everyone wants to win, but all I going to say is just remember the 3 on 1 break, the decision that was made, now think back to last year during the Duke game. 3 on 1 break, same situation, same result. I dont have to tell you, just put it together for yourself. Maybe it was good that Starks and Lubick, didnt make the burger game.

ok
so if i.m going to believe that part of this is based on the 3 on 1 where a pass should not have been made because of the angle and the spacing im calling bs to the whole theory proposed. If anything is wrong a certain player seems to go 3 and 4 trips down the court with out getting any touches at all. In favor of forcing it to one who is beggining to lead the team in turnovers. They could all learn to grow up a little.
I agree
but this isnt BS, trust me on that front

What is your sense of the likelihood that Coach can get a handle of it? Is it likely that he can nip this or is it too far advanced?
Ok, that was two, but I can’t handle this.

It is hard
To tell at this point because he tried to get a handle on it last year but it was to far gone. Last year it was more players involved in that situation then just 2, so it sort of kept the fire burning sort of speak. I tell you I think the tale sign will be, if you see a certain individual on the bench alot more then when he has foul trouble. Because I mean honestly, we had no business losing to ODU, USF, or Rutgers, it is unexcusable. LEts just greatful that Starks didnt make the burger game.

too much drama like coaching a bunch of girls. yes jahidi what kind of handle did he get on this last year. none. This is where coaches earn their stripes if indeed there really is something serious about this. i’m still hoping that its more a little frustration with losing like they did and some things get said. happens all the time with both good and bad teams. might actually be the best thing that could happen to them. Up to Thompson to get em all on the same page again. im not sure he is up to the task.
Let me just say this
there is jealousy of the emergence of Clark and Freeman, and it is not setting to well with the guy. Thats why you see out of control drives and 3 point shots with 10 seconds on the clock, after he just missed 2 free throws back to back. Crazy

The better Freeman and Clark look
the better everyone looks. More than other teams, we play TEAM ball. No one excels if everyone isn’t pulling their weight. Maybe once this guy figures that part out, he’ll realize that he should hope that Clark and Free do well because it’ll mean he’s been doing his job well too. One looks good, they all look good. One goes to shit, it all goes to shit.
That's what I don't understand
For a decent part of this year, it looked like he’d figured that out. I was actually impressed by how much he was willing to run things instead of gun them.
It worked, man, and we loved you for it. Bring it back.
Why so Syracuse?
Yes
exactly, one can only hope that in his mind, he has figured it out, we can only hope

All this kid needs to do is
remember that his talent shows more when he’s making the right plays. Period. Guess what happens next? YOU WIN. And you know what happens when you win? YOU LOOK GOOD. Ask PE Jr.
One other thing.....
Regardless of the issues, there’s nothing more important than bitch-slapping Cuse. Nothing. Fix your diaper rash on your own time.
The sky may not be falling
i’ve been trying to figure out this team all season and todays post’s may be a big piece of the puzzle. This has never felt like last year where the team became selfish, gave up on each other and then gave up on themselves. They couldn’t turn it on at the end of the season even when they wanted.
This year they can turn it on when it matters, big high profile games, and they deliver in those games. They beat UConn in the second half by playing selflessly and with aggression. They did the same in the second half against Nova and almost beat them there. They stormed off to a 14 point lead in syracuse before letting down and losing. And let’s not forget the pasting they gave duke and nova at home. Complete and comprehensive ass kicking. They did that because they knew the only way they could win was to play together. I think they looked across the bench and saw better athletes than they know they are and teams that would and could beat them if they didn’t play together.
So why do they lose to odu, usf, rutgers etc. It seems that when they know they don’t need their best effort, a team effort, they start thinking about their own game. It’s not just chris wright, but given his central role in running the team it’s the most impactful. Remember, the cw three pointer was not the only illadvised 3 pointer taken in the rutgers game. I seem to remember a post…great shot jerelle now never do that again.
So why is the sky, potentially not falling? In the big games, the team knows they have to play as a team. whatever cw’s body language was in nj, by and large he has shown up, and shown up big, in the big games. And as we go forward, almost every game is a big game.
We need no extra incentive to thrash syracuse. When we get into the BE tournament, they are all big games. And in the NCAA’s it’s win or go home. These are all big games and there is ample evidence this team knows what to do in those games.
So maybe things are going to be ok. What i fear most is that we are going to blow it against belmont college in the first round and i’ll be banished to the chicken little, i mean hoya talk, site for unjustified optimism.
by sleepyhoya on Feb 17, 2010 4:28 PM EST reply actions 1 recs
We will know a lot more about the team in about 27 hours
But what we know then won’t matter until after next Tuesday at Freedom Hall. Beat Cuse at home, lose to Louisville on the road, or let Harangody come in and smack us around next weekend? We’re back where we started.
I am getting tired of trying to speculate, so I am now assuming that we will lose out. Then when we WIN our first round NCAA game against Belmont I will feel great. And then kill myself when we lose our second round game to Cornell.
I think that Jerrelle
took the shot because he realizes that if they leave him as open as he has been left, shooting it is not a terrible idea.
by TheDoctorIsIn on Feb 17, 2010 6:52 PM EST up reply actions
Chris’ three against Rutgers WAS NOT A BAD SHOT. I guarentee you not a single person on the team thought that was a bad shot. A wide open three with ten seconds left, you are told to take that shot 100% of the time. In fact Jason and Chris set that up with a little two man game and Jason timed the pass perfectly so Chris would have an open shot, after Chris passed it to Jason who could have had a wide open shot if he had a faster release. Sorry but that was FAR from an ill advised three. Gregs at the top of the key was though.
Also- you’re arguement is not rational. Teams don’t just turn on togetherness when they feel they need it. The most rational arguement for this team losing to teams like USF Rutgers and ODu is that they don’t show up to games they feel are easy. A horrible habit, but one that is common to most college teams, especially ones that are young and not used to winning(aka us).

last shot
that last shot was a HORRIBLE shot.
13 seconds left, down 1, and you fire an NBA three? who was that, dajuan summers? gerald riley?
wright didnt hit a jump shot all game, he should not have taken that, not with monroe DOMINATING in the paint in the second half
Good talk.
by Hire Esherick on Feb 17, 2010 10:59 PM EST up reply actions
It wasn’t an NBA 3 first of all. He was no more than half a foot behind the three point line. Second, there was 10 seconds left. ANY wide open shot you get is a good one. You don’t have the luxary of passing up wide open shots when you’re down by one. I will take that shot every day of the week and twice on sunday.
I don’t think a single basketball coach in America would tell you to pass on that type of look in that situation.
by letsgohoyas12 on Feb 17, 2010 11:08 PM EST up reply actions
the shot
There are 14 seconds left
He is a good foot and half behind the line
He has 5+ feet to dribble in
We are down 1
Good talk.
by Hire Esherick on Feb 17, 2010 11:12 PM EST up reply actions
clark also never had a shot
it was thompson in the corner that made the final pass to wright. with that much time left on the clock, and only down 1, why shoot a three. especially when you could have dribbled and kicked out to a teammate that is shooting greater than 15% from downtown this month.
wright is having a bad month, he shouldnt be taking those shots. as much jt3’s fault for not calling a timeout and getting freeman or monroe the ball as it is wright’s for taking the last shot when he is well aware he is off.
Good talk.
by Hire Esherick on Feb 17, 2010 11:08 PM EST up reply actions
You do not pass up wide open shots even if you have been off the past few games. I am sorry you just don’t. Telling someone to pass up a wide open shot in that situation is just bad coaching imo. Again, thats not the NBA three point line thats the college line.
He has 5 feet to drive into a much larger defender. It wouldn’t have gotten anyone else open because he wasn’t being guarded up there. Again it was a GOOD shot, probably one of the better looks we could have hoped for.

HUGE difference between Benimon and Chris Wright. Chris Wright’s shot being off for a few games, is completely different than an unproven freshman taking that shot. To say different is ridiculous.

No it wasn’t. Get a clue, the shot was fine. JTIII said so himself. Basic rule of basketball. If you are wide open, you take it. He drives, he would have most likely caused a turnover. Couldn’t pass it considering everyone else was defended. What was he supposed to do hold on to it and wait for the defense to guard him? No. You shoot it in that situation 10 times out of 10.
by letsgohoyas12 on Feb 17, 2010 11:26 PM EST up reply actions
is that what the princeton offense is about?
taking the first wide open shot?
or is it about taking the best shot? using the FULL time you have to find the BEST shot.
he jacked an nba three with 14 seconds left down 1. that is not the best shot.
im glad jt3 said the shot was fine. that is what he is supposed to say. he isnt calhoun – he doesnt call out his players in the media. doesnt mean the shot was actually fine, it was rushed and shows poor judgment.

The Princeton offense isn’t about taking the best shots. Its about taking good shots within the flow of the offense. That was a good shot within the flow of the offense. And again cut the hyperbole with the NBA line. He was 6 inches at most behind the COLLEGE line. He had no other choices as explained before.
If you are that wide open, I don’t care if you are jerimiah rivers, you take that shot. That was probably the best look we were going to get out of that situation. I doubt anyone else was going to be that wide open within their shooting range. Good shot, too bad he missed it.

How an JtIII
…let this go on AGAIN? He is the head coach—his no.1 job is to get the team to play together. Chris Wright is a punk, but he is young and immature. JTIII is paid extremely well to handle situations EXACTLY LIKE THIS. If we collapse again 100% of this is on JTIII
by PhillyPeetzWitRanch on Feb 17, 2010 4:29 PM EST reply actions
If there is a "Chris Wright is a punk" bandwagon....
…. I’m not on it. I’m more of the opinion that if there are jealousies because some guys are playing really well and some other guys are feeling like they get less attention or look like less of a player as a result, that doesn’t make anyone a punk. It makes them misguided. Again, when Austin and Clark look good, Chris, Greg, Julian, etc. look better. Why? Not only because those are the games we win but because EACH of the guys’ success absolutely, necessarily DEPENDS on the success of each other guy. Austin doesn’t play well in a vacuum. He gets hit with a sweet dime from Chris drawing defenders leaving him open for 3. Who hit the 3? Austin. Who made the play? Chris. That’s Georgetown ball and you can swap any 2 names you like. If any of the guys don’t understand that, it’s absolutely on JT3 to make this fact known to the guys. Last year, clearly, the guys did not buy that bill of goods. How did that work out? That’s all of the fucking proof necessary. Play together? Smoke UConn. Go for yours? Lose to St. John’s. Twice. It’s on Coach to drill this point home. It’s on the veteran players to remind each other. Have a problem with a teammate? Sit him down and have it out. A teammate needs some help? Ask him what he needs. This is a TEAM sport. And when we play as a team, we can whup anyone. Ball’s in the Hoyas’ court and it’s coming in juicy. Is it gonna be an ace or do you smoke a winner on the baseline? Can go either way. But I’ve seen Chris play like the PG on this squad. And it is good. Really, really good. I’ve seen Chris not play like the PG on this team….. It’s not so good. He’s got the physical skills. He knows the offense and the defense. Just need to get his mind right and it’s GO TIME. Same goes for all of the guys. Heads in the game. Make the right plays and win. Often, win BIG. And, HOYA FUCKING SAXA!
PS
does your source have any info on Greg’s intentions beyond this year?? Greg Monroe returning next season will be the one chance this school has to win a National Title in our lifetimes. We won’t see another No.1 overall recruit at G’town again anytime soon. Judging from the classes we have been putting together lately we may never even see another 5 star recruit…

No one disagrees with your points, but you are speaking from a rational standpoint. Selfish bball players with hot heads are not rational. Try explaining to a crying toddler after you take their lollipop away that sugar is not good for your teeth and see how far that gets you. We can only hope Chris realizes what his selfish actions can do to the team and decides to turn it around rather than react selfishly. I agree he has all the tools. He just needs to be mature and get hsi head in the game. Unfortunately he may be a year away from that level of maturity.

WE ARE GEORGETOWN NOW AND FOREVER
Sorry but at this point in the season I’m not buying this until there is actually some proof on the court, and as of now there has been absolutly none. Honestly I think every single person that believes any of this until there is some proof of selfishness or chemistry issues on the court is doing a complete disservice to the team and should be embarrassed to call themselves a hoya fan. There has been an overwhelming about of evidence of Chris being perfectly fine with other guys picking up his slack, the interview from yesterday licked above being exhibit A, as well as NOTHING to back it up. If the three on one with Austin being at a horrible angle, and jason being a foot behind him as evidence, well, suffice to say I think you need much more.
Chemistry issues aren’t created in a few days, atleast not the kind that can derail a perfectly good season this last into the season.
Did you hear this from the same source that said Jeff was staying for another year? Or maybe the one who claimed Hollis, Chris and Greg were all transferring last year? Apparently those all came from players on team too.

Acually HoyaParanoia85- I heard that the jealousy Chris is feeling is caused by the fact that Jason and Austin have more followers on twitter than he does. However Jesse and Dajuan are getting pretty upset that Chris is getting followers at a faster pace then them and they did greater things while at Georgetown. They blame JTIII for allowing him to get a twitter before he got to a final four. Twitter’s actually tearing the program apart.

Well from some of the other things you have said, compared to what I have actually seen and whats has actually happened, I’m not putting too much trust in that source.
Not only that but what your saying doesn’t even logically make sense. Chemistry and jealousy issues don’t just pop up near the end of a (so far) successfull season. They simply don’t. And anyone who says they have been there the whole season is flatout lying. This isn’t even the first time this season where Chris has been out shown by Austin and Jason for a stretch of games, and that turned out perfectly fine. If you watched any of the interviews from yesterday about the Cuse game, you would see no issues that seem to be boiling under the surface. Chris seemed perfectly content to let others do the scoring.
Even if there is “in team fighting” its not the end of the world disaster you’re making it out to be. If there were major chemistry issues last year, that is not why we sucked sorry to say. Teams can overcome things like that without it leading to disaster and blaming chemistry issues for total collapses like last year and what you seem to be predicting now are just lame cope outs for poor play and execution. Can we be the best we can be with in team fighting? No. But that doesn’t mean we throw our season out the window because players are bickering, which there is no evidence to back up anyway.

All Im saying
is that, we will see, tomorrow will be the tale tale sign no question, I mean you act like I want them to lose, thats not the point. And do you actually think he is going to come out in an interview and say well, Im not getting my shots, and the other guys get more freedom then I do. I really dont think he will say that even if thats what he is thinking. And last year hell we started out on fire, only to parrish in a ball of smoke in the end, so things like this do pop up in the middle and towards the end of a season. I hope they can snap out of it, I believe we have to make up to make a final 4 run.
WE ARE GEORGETOWN NOW AND FOREVER
No obviously I don’t expect him to say that, but I don’t expect him to get as giddy as school girl when talking about jason clarks 26 point game either if it really bothers him. Unless of course he is a sociopath, in which case they team has a lot more problems than wins and losses. And no, tommorow is not the tell tale sign. the tell tale sign is that there have been absolutly zero signs of selfishness from any player. Obviously if he goes out there and doesn’t pass to anyone and only looks for his shots it would be a problem but there is ZERO reason to except that.
And, things didn’t pop in the middle/end of last season. To imply so is laughable. Things headed south in the begginning of January. And hate to break it to you, we weren’t all that good the first two months either. We were inconsistent and could be great when we shot well(a la Uconn Maryland and Cuse), but stunk when we didn’t(every game we lost really). We lose confidence last year which was the real problem. We could have over come any supposed chemistry issues if we were any good to begin with, but we really weren’t.
Whether or not
there’s been evidence of guys being selfish is not really debatable. Whether it’s a symptom of larger problems is debatable. What’s not debatable is winning fixes all of that shit. Keep winning and we’ll all shut the fuck up. Austin gets more open looks because he’s a better shooter and because he’s a better shooter, gets found for open shots. Greg finds him, Jason finds him and Chris finds him a whole lot. Austin is as good as he is this year partly because Chris and Jason and Greg are better than they were last year at moving the ball, creating space and locking down their guys. Same for every guy on the team. So let’s shut the fuck up, play team ball and smoke Cuse like they deserve to be smoked. And, regardless of any criticism, the whole team Rautins thing is creepy as hell. Classy or not, that’s fukkin gay.
Like I Said
ITs not like I want them to lose, or Chris do bad, hell, if we can win out Im with it. I was trying to lay the story out there for you guys to decipher. And yes I will be quiet from here on out, as you say winning cures all.
WE ARE GEORGETOWN NOW AND FOREVER
You are entitled
to your opinion I was just putting it out there for people to judge for themselves. BUt your right I’m wrong, as I said I will be quiet as winning heals everything.
WE ARE GEORGETOWN NOW AND FOREVER
Where Cynical Meets Delusional
Good talk.
