Georgetown Upset by Rutgers: Hoyas Lose 71-68 In Worst Game of the Year
Look ahead to Villanova, lose to South Florida.
Look ahead to Syracuse, lose to Rutgers.
The Hoyas handed the Scarlet Knights their first victory against a Top Ten opponent in seven years, as poor shooting from the field and foul line plagued Georgetown throughout the game.
Chris Wright mailed in one of his worst performances as a Hoya, taking ill-advised and selfish shots en route to a 2-8 performance from the field while playing uninspired and lazy defense. Austin Freeman failed to break the 20 point barrier for the second game in a row and shot a woeful 1-5 from beyond the arc. Greg Monroe, despite leading the Hoyas with 19 points, contributed 5 of the Hoyas 14 turnovers.
Lot more blame to go around in the coming days, as the Hoyas have a four day break to re-evaluate things. Georgetown has not won three straight Big East games since the 2007-08 season. Looking forward to the players' uplifting and forward-looking Tweets, shame the rest of us can't move on as fast.
Until we beat the teams that we are supposed to destroy, this year has first-round exit written all over it.
If anyone needs me, I'll be at the warehouse.

We also forwarded your post to the admissions office
And your transfer application has thus, once again, been denied. Better luck in ’11 kiddo!

Campus apathy strikes again
Leo’s big screen was on for the Rutgers game—tuned into NBC so aloof student diners of the 4 o clock hour could watch a medley of graceful and effeminate winter sports while their Hoyas engaged in meaningful Big East play.
But we know they’ll be drunk, face-painted, and show boating at Verizon for Cuse so its all okay after all, right?.
Leos
does not get cable and thus can only play the major networks. They do not get ESPN or anything other than CBS etc. It is not the students fault that Leos serves shit and wont spend money on game watches, while charging absurd prices. Though I have to give them for feeding us during the blizzard.

Well I was mostly upset that the students were lingering there watching
Rather than heading to the alumni lounge to watch the game. In general, I am about as pro-Leo’s an individual as you will find. 2 meals a day, 7 days a week.
Huh?
What difference does it make? Do you think the team could feel the energy from Piscataway?
And why the jab at the Olympics?

Nikita-esque.
Wright’s 3-pt attempt with a little over 10 seconds to go was Nikita-esque. That was the worse play of the year and possibly the worse play of his Georgetown career. Despite our relative success muscling the ball inside in the last ten minutes of the game, he tries to be the hero and ends up as the goat.
It makes me so angry!

he had an open 3
he just missed. It was a good shot, I can’t fault Wright for taking that shot.
If he doesn’t take it, then there’s no point in him ever taking a shot.
It's not me, It's you

not necessarily
Because the payoff for two points versus three points is what makes the lowered chances of making a three worth it. However, down by a point at the end of a game, the extra payoff for three points as opposed to a two is a lot less valuable, so a possibly higher percentage shot, with “less payoff” is what you want.

Bad Coaching
Anyone else notice that JT3 talks to the other coaches and not the plays during some timeouts? He was circled up with the coaches during the last timeout and they clearly failed to draw up any kind of last second play.
We never should have gotten into a last second situation against Rutgers.
Section 101.

Bad Jump Shooting
Along with our terrible defense, we could not shoot yesterday. We were 6-27 on jump shots (2s and 3s combined). That’s 22%.

Has no one noticed Chris Wright killing this team softly?
Not just yesterday, but all season Chris Wright has probably been one of the more erratic ‘Point’ guards i’ve seen play in my life. He spends too much time being reckless and careless with the ball, is out of control when handling/driving, and generally makes very bad decisions in key situations.
Despite his big performances a couple times this year, he also gets outplayed by more ‘in control’ guards quite a bit.
I thought the achilles heel was lack of depth, but it’s really Chris Wright. I’m sure he’s a nice guy though.
