Mikael Hopkins Picks Georgetown over Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Kansas, Miami, Texas and West Virginia

Plenty of chatter about Mikael Hopkins committing but this makes it somewhat legit. Put aside the fact that David Cox is listed as the main recruiter and bask in the glory. Even crazier, Hopkins was scheduled to visit Miami this weekend (it's 50 degrees in DC today).

Georgetown lands another Top 100 local recruit and silences the Casualties for at least another year week.

Way to go, JT3 and staff

Big get for the Hoyas and fills a gaping hole in 2011. Would still like to see Hoyas make a run at Hood and maybe another big, but this is a solid step in the right direction.

As an aside, I would like someone to come to my office and make a youtube clip of my greatest blogging highlights.

Casually.

Great Get

Welcome to Gtown, Mikael. Another great big man. Another local player on the hilltop. You made a great decision. Good stuff to reload the DeMatha pipeline. I dont want a year to go by without a DeMatha player on our roster. Now hit those weights. I want you to show up ready to bang.

not much chatter here today, despite landing a top 100 recruit, since we aren’t talking about our lunches. Hope you’re happy :-(

LOVE IT!

Welcome to the newest Hoya. I love when we get local kids. Win-win.

They'll like us when we win!

Good stuff from hopkins himself
“I feel as though i fit [Georgetown’s] system well,” Hopkins said. “And it’s close to home and I have a little sister who I want to have come to my games.”
"She’s only one," Hopkins said. "She’s really young. She a played a role in it. At first I wanted to go away, but after I thought about it staying home was probably best for me."
Hopkins said he also liked Georgetown’s “tradition of getting big men to the [NBA] and their program. THey have a great program.”
"They have always been recruiting me coming up through high school," he said. "I play there every year and I see the coaches regularly because my mom works at Georgetown. I just had a real good relationship with their coaches and I feel comfortable going there."

Good talk.

Great connections.

And glad he can see how far we can get our big men.

Why so Syracuse?

Pop 'Kins?

“She’s only one,” Hopkins said. “She’s really young. She a played a role in it. At first I wanted to go away, but after I thought about it staying home was probably best for me.”

I’ve missed something here- what’s this?
