Andy Rautins Rant

I'm not a GTOWN fan but thought you'd all enjoy my rant on current Knick Andy Rautins.  This kid does not belong in the NBA.  I screaming at Dolan and Donnie Walsh when they drafted him and yelled directly at Andy last night in the Knicks preseason loss to the Celtics.  The Knicks were up for most of the game and lost due to Andy Rautins lack of ball handling skills.  Doc Rivers kept Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo in the game late, while the Knick played bench players (proof Andy Rautins was on the floor playing basketball instead of mopping up sweat from real basketball players). Send him to the NBDL already!!!

Let me quote Draft Express "From a physical standpoint, Rautins is underwhelming for an NBA shooting guard, and doesn’t have any notable strength, length, or athleticism to make up for his average size. He has strongly defined strengths and weaknesses as a player, and he plays a style very well suited for his lack of physical prowess."  What kind of style is that.  Shooting college 3-pointers on a Syracuse team where he isn't the focal point of the offense.  Thankfully the Knicks signed Roger Mason Jr, and have Danillo Gallinari, so they will not need to waste a roster spot on this excuse of a three point specialist.

I really feel the only reason Rautins was drafted is because D'Antoni played professional basketball with Rautins Father in Italy.  Time to send Andy back to Canada.

Stay Casual, my friends.

Whenever was cheering for Shaq ( I don’t know why) I started chanting for Jr. I like Jr. more than rautins as a bench player in the league. The Knicks do have issues at PG, but Andy Rautins sure is not the answer

Translation: HATE HATE HATE HATE!

Well, I’ll say this about Andy- he’s no Jessie Sapp thats for sure!

Oh, wait- do you hear that……Sum Randum Dood just hit another trey for Ohio!

Here’s a suggestion, why not prepare urself for yet another imminent collapse by your gag crew, instead of plexing about an SU player in the NBA.
Andy consistently ate your lunches last year, & the legacy of Hoya sukking will continue unabated- of that you can be sure.

Stop hatin’.

i feel bad for you

Gtown certainly collapsed in the NCAA tournament but Cuse didn’t fare any better. Didn’t get past the quarterfinals of conference and NCAA Tournaments, despite #1 rankings in both.

did u guys make a t-shirt for that?

We made a Sweet 16......

….DESPITE that devastating injury to AO- so what was your excuse for gagging as usual? We were also picked 8th in preseason, yet ended up a #1 seed that won 30 games.
I’ll gladly take that season over yet another annual collapse by your vastly overrated team…..AGAIN!!

Quick question…how many NCAA Tournament games did Greg “Charmin” Monroe win in the Princeton offense????
Oh, look- there’s Charmin at the high-post taking another ill-advised jumper…what a BANGER he turned out to be!!!

LMFAO!

georgetown choked – i said it. no exCUSE.

dont understand why youre walking around bragging about a 30 win season and nothing to show for it other than another postseason collapse. another year of cuse basketball, another loss to lower seed.

Yes, because a Sweet16 means nothing.....

BE Regular Season Champs.
30 wins- & a #1 Seed.

You musta missed the part about AO’s injury blowing up our season.
Despite all that, I’d take that season over yours- where do I sign up?

Your argument is specious- you’re grasping at straws. Instead of focusing on what was achieved, you choose to dwell on the negatives.
Thats OK- typical GTown Hoyasuxa logic.

We can live w/ the results of last season, thank you very much. Can you say the same thing……yeah, I thought so!

by VerbalKint on Oct 21, 2010 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah i can live with last year

young team, push to BE finals. big wins, big losses. it happens. cuse experienced it in 2006 and 2005.

30 wins is meaningless with the OCC schedule cuse consistently plays.

you spend an awful amount of time amount of time trolling a bs bball blog

Just responding to this call-out blogpost about Andy-

you wanna call that trolling, go right ahead!

Also, you lose ALL credibility w/ the whole “30 wins is meaningless” garbage.
I’m not here to defend our schedule last year- look up the stats if you want to, they’ll speak for themselves. I’m sure you guys played the toughest schedule in the nation last year, right? I mean those powerhouse ODU & Ohio programs were definitely a challenge, right? Pot, meet kettle?
Besides, thats just another attempt to deflect the level of sucktitude displayed by the 09-10 Hoyas.

by VerbalKint on Oct 21, 2010 3:07 PM EDT up reply actions

actually, yes

gtown had one of the toughest OOC SOS – #12 according to kenpom vs. cuse’s #139. and this year winn said they have the toughest in the country.

youre really good at putting your foot in your mouth. please, continue, its entertaining.

Yes, & that toughness showed vs Ohio!

You guys were well-prepared for that 3-point barrage, your “#12 toughest OOC SOS” made sure of that!
Remind me again what schedule OHIO played before they dismantled your pathetic program? Or ODU? Or St Johns? Didn’t you gag against Rutgers as well? Tough guys…….

wasnt too long ago when cuse lost to cleveland st. or #13 vermont. or #12 texas A&M.

Guess you didnt read the first sentence where I said Im not a Gtown fan. If it were Onuaku or Scoop on the team I wouldn’t be complaining. I am praying that Melo sign with the Knicks. The point I was making is that Andy Rauting blow and doesnt belong in the NBA. If it weren’t for Dolan and D’Antoni he would have been undrafted and playing in some third world country right now.

And seriouslly do you think Syracuse fans are buying Knicks tickets cause Andy Rautins is sitting on the end of the bench, no. Knicks fans are yelling at the court whenever that scrub enters the game. He did have 15 points in last night preseason game, Verbal must be popping the champagne bottles.

by IamHagel on Oct 21, 2010 2:27 PM EDT reply actions

Dude, did Andy bone your girl or what???

Get off his jock already- the guy is making more money in one game than you’re likely to see this year. He’s signed a rookie contract, traveled the world, & living a life you can only dream about…or better yet, bitch about on some BS bball blog.

Andy’s worked for EVERYTHING he’s ever had- he’s done it the old-fashioned way, by earning it. Yes, I & many bball fans will root for a kid like that.
I’m proud to have Andy Rautins as a Cuse alum- & if you had any smarts, you wouldn’t underestimate him.

Btw- if you’re NOT a GTown fan, then why post this denigrating analysis on their forum? Why not go to any other BE blog or the SU blog to voice your bizarre fixation of all things Andy Rautins?! Do I sense some unrequited man-crush??? Must be the hair-gel!!!

Get over yourself, dude- he’s in the NBA…..& you’re not! Deal w/ it.

by VerbalKint on Oct 21, 2010 2:37 PM EDT up reply actions

I think your the one on his jock jealous of all the money and travels he has. I never even played basketball competitively. He isn’t taking my roster spot in the league. I dont care how hard he worked. His hard work is not enough to make up for his lack in skill and size. Then this is part of the explanation of why he is in the league. The guys at the end of the bench work hard to stay in the league, while others are so talented they don’t need to work as hard.

by IamHagel on Oct 21, 2010 2:42 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah, good answer......

I guess thats as good an explanation as any for pulling Andy Rautins outta yer azz, to dissect & criticize.
Out of all the players on NBA rosters who’re in similiar positions, you just happened to fixate on AR- on a GTown blog, no less? Really?

He wanted a cheering section, so he posted here.

If this opinion was firm & legit, then why look for an “amen corner” to substantiate it? I don’t totally disagree w/ his perspective, I’m a Knicks fan as well.
But the entire blogpost is a hit-job, IMHO.
Reading it you’d think there was no redeeming value in picking, signing, & playing Andy Rautins. Mind you, the season hasn’t even started yet!!!!

Theres alot of bitterness & vitriol in the post- its not an objective piece. Imagine if some so-called fan had gone on the Cuse board, & posted something like this about PE Jr? I doubt you guys would see it as coincidence, no? He doesn’t have to cojones to post this drivel on the Cuse forum, yet wants pats-on-the-back from “impartial” Hoya fans??
Yup- makes perfect sense.

PE Jr father was an all time great for the Knicks. His father didnt just play professional ball with the current coach overseas. He was drafted by the Kings in the 2nd round not the Knicks, I could care less that the kings do. He played for the Knicks previously for Frédéric Weis, the dude Vince Carter dunked over (great trade). That guy is a bigger bum than Rautin, literally. I think the PE Jr has some of the best stats in the d league and worked his way back to the NBA. Send Rautins down to the NBDL and lets see how he does. He his numbers look like Jr’s 17 pts, 9 boards, 3 assits, 3 block/steal a game I will take him back.

Roger Mason Jr was signed to be the three point specialist. Knicks don’t need Andy. They also have this Italian guy you might have heard of named Danillo Gallinari, he was top 5 in threes made last season.

by IamHagel on Oct 21, 2010 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions

If his opinion was legit, & he wanted an objective response-

then he’d post it ANYWHERE else than the GTown blog. Period.

Assuming he’s not a TOTAL moron, I’m sure he knew the kind of responses to expect from this blog.
If I have a Conservative opinion about politics, I’ll go on Fox News because they’re not likely to disagree. If I lean Left, I’ll go on MSNBC.
Obviously I have every right to do so- but its disingenuous to imply that my choice of media is totally innocent, & that I only needed to hear Glen Beck’s opinion about Obama. Gee, I wonder what he’s likely to say? The fact that he posted it here already destroys his credibility. And for a Cuse fan to see that heading & not respond???
Its a bogus argument, IMHO.

he posted here because he wanted to hear shitty things about rautins. he isnt trying to defend a dissertation. he isnt looking for an objective, unbiased response.

he was stating an opinion. on a blog where he knew people likely shared the same thoughts. his choice was not innocent. it was planned. he wasnt trying to build credibility.

i dont understand why u have a problem with someone stating an anti-cuse opinion on a georgetown blog. we dont go over there and try to defend everything anti-georgetown that is said. it is a fan blog, by fans, for fans.

That’s why its called a rant. I didn’t post Praise Andy Rautins like you probably did when he was drafted by the Knicks.

I’m not proud at all. I’m an irate Knicks that hates Jim Dolan and Cablevision. Really knows how to operate a company there letting Fox be dropped during Yankee Playoffs and NFL season. I know you’re really missing Glee.

by IamHagel on Oct 21, 2010 3:59 PM EDT reply actions

By the same token, Esherick

why would you have a problem w/ a Cuse fan DEFENDING and objecting to an anti-Cuse opinion, whether on a GTown blog or not?
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone go to a main rivals board & post an entire blogpost about a FORMER rival from another program- & he’s not part of that rivalry. Who is this POS- just some random Knick fan? I’ve seen Hoya fans come to the Cuse board, as I have come here, & respond vociferously to posts about GTown. Its to be expected.
But for some so-called “neutral” a-hole to single out one of the boyz on a rival board….. well, thats a first for me. I’ve no problem arguing w/ GTown fans on these blogs- but who-the-f*uk does this guy think he is talking smack, & expecting no challenge???

Why was Rautins a good pick for the Knicks?

Sorry, had to log off for a while there……

Anyway, in all honesty the only ones who can answer that question are the Knicks themselves. IMO, they should’ve gone for a big- but Andy’s a combo-guard who not only handles the ball well, but is a very good passer & borderline great shooter.
Once again, this aspect of the debate was rendered moot because my focus was on the entire blogpost itself, & the circumstances surrounding that issue.
I originally assumed that a GTown fan had written the post, figured that he had some connection to the forum & was therefore making his opinion felt. To find out that its just some idiot mamaluke w/ his nose buried up the Hoyas azz, well- it kinda made me lose focus.

I guess thats why I’m so annoyed. If you Gtown guys wanna take shots at Cuse guys, well- thats what our main rival is for. But this Einstein had no connection to this forum other than some cursory connection to the NY Knicks, yet he takes the time & trouble to feature an entire rant on Andy- like he has a personal problem w/ the guy??? On our rivals board no less- in the most cowardly manner possible & expects kudos from all comers? Sorry- but I say f*ck him & the horse he rode in on.

You know, if I think harder about your handle...

…it makes me wonder if you’re not disguising a true identity.

Leo Rautins, is that you?

It’s ok, buddy, I know you’re trying to cover up your age with creepy family tattoos and the thick aromatic mixture of hair gel and man-tan, but nothing you post here will take the word “disappointment” out of your Wikipedia page.

Nonetheless, Poppa Bear, your argument continues to make no sense…

like he has a personal problem w/ the guy???

WE here at CasualHoya have a PERSONAL problem with the guy. IamHagel’s argument was almost entirely his uselessness to the Knicks, an argument you seem to agree with before going on to rant about content that wasn’t really there.

Why so Syracuse?

I'll say (type) it slowly.......

Call it a pet peeve- I have no problem arguing the points about Andy w/ the people on this forum. I can do the same about any GTown players in the Cuse forum & vice-versa.
I have a major problem w/ some clown writing an entire dissertation about one of my squad, & having absolutely no connection to the rivalry.
To me its a bitch move, a punk-like attempt to make like Sally Field ( “You like me- you really like me”), so you guys here can tell him what a great guy he is. JMHO
If it was just another post in the thread, fine. But an entire blogpost- really?
If I’m a Blazers fan & hate Greg Oden, I’m not looking for a Michigan blog so I can tell everyone how much I hate Greg Oden- after all he went to Ohio State, so…..
So I decided to play like John McLain ( “The fly in the ointment, the monkey in the wrench”) & call out this gutless POS author for being a pathetic brown-noser.
Nuff said.

by VerbalKint on Oct 22, 2010 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions

Say it however you want...

I’d have no problem with the Greg Oden move. I don’t know how visceral the rivalry is, particularly when it comes to basketball, but if Oden was as hated by Michigan as Rautins was by us, I really have no problem with a guy showing up and saying “Man, you’re a blog, so you’ll appreciate this, but MAN, sucks.” He was COMPLETELY upfront about it.

You mentioned that it’s like political commentators choosing what channel they appear on, as though sports fanaticism is of the rhetorical importance of political debate. This blog (and every other one) exists because when it comes to sports, fans are most drawn to people with similar likes and dislikes.

If you’re trying to raise the level of debate in sports, fine, but I really don’t understand what you think the preferable move would have been. Going over to Syracuse and posting a Fanpost about Andy Rautins sucking would have been a pretty jackass move in my opinion, but then again, you’re a Syracuse fan, and in my experience, jackass moves are kind of y’all’s bread-and-butter.

Notes for the future:
> At other schools, dissertations are longer than two paragraphs. It’s a rigorous requirement, but we know the professors are just looking out for our success.
> You misquoted Sally Fields (it’s ok, everyone does).
> The only person who seems more averse to John McClane’s actual name than you is Holly Gennaro. You, sir, are no John McClane. You are, at best, Richard Thornburg, which is ironic, considering you support players that beat women and Richard Thornburg got beat up BY a woman. What a crazy world.

Why so Syracuse?

Apparently accidentally used coding.

First paragraph is meant to finish with I really have no problem with a guy showing up and saying "Man, you’re a [Team X] blog, so you’ll appreciate this, but MAN, [Player from Team Y] sucks."

Why so Syracuse?

by HoyaJoker07 on Oct 22, 2010 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions

You wouldn’t go to a Michigan Blog, because they don’t give a shit about basketball. Michigan basketball is irrelevant.

I’m not going to a Syrcause blog to say your players suck balls. I didn’t intend for anyone to actually defend Rautins. As mentioned, the only people that like him either went to Syracuse or are Canadian. I just thought gtown fans would enjoy my hating on Rautins, which they seem to.

Greg Oden is not a hated player. His knees are 100 years old and he doesnt do anything in the NBA. Rautins doesn’t even belong in the league.
