The Devils Went Down To Georgetown

Myself and the Georgetown Joker came up with this song parody the other day.  I hope all enjoy, and we'd love to hear comments (Last line of second stanza credited to HoyaTalk board contributor).

Devils Went Down to Georgetown
Lyrics by The Hoya Joker and Tandyland

The Devils went down to Georgetown, they were looking for some goals to steal.
They were in a bind, already fallin' behind, even the Wolfpack made ‘em squeal
When they came across these young men angry after Syracuse and playing it hot
And the Devils charged out of the locker room and said, "Hoyas, let me tell you what:
"As if you didn't know it, we are a storied program too,
And Dickie V and those like he prefer our better blue.
Now you play pretty good defense, boys, but give the Devils their due:
Coach went and sold his soul to fix the polls and people think we're better than you."
Our coach said, "My name's Johnny and before you count the win,
"Some might forget, but we've cut some nets and we're primed to do't again."

Johnny, loosen up those boys and call your offense hard.
Remember you play tougher teams like Panthers, 'Cats, and Cards.
And if you win, we'll know the Big East trumps the ACC,
But if you lose, the Devils get your seed!

The Devils all turned to Coach K and said "Let's start this show."
And Scheyer blew on his fingertips from which fell shots would flow
The threes were raining from the wings, and when they didn't miss
Then the Cameron demons joined in and they sounded something like this.

(Annoying crowd instrumental)

When the first half finished, Johnny said, "Well, you're pretty good, ol' son.
"But ten minutes in that room back there and I'll show you how it's done."

Sheyer's on the fast break, run Chris run.
The Devils in the house of Verizon, son.
Hoyas in the grey zone, playin' like 'Zo.
Show them how a dog bites,
Greg Monroe.

(Excellent Hoya fan instrumental)

The Devils started fouling when they knew that they'd been beat.
But the Dukies on the benches sat there staring at their feet.
Johnny said: "K, just come on back if you ever want to try again.
"We done whipped you twice since I've been here
And we could always use the win"

They played,
Sheyer's on the fast break, run Chris run.
The Devils in the house of the Verizon, son.
Hoyas in the grey zone, playin' like 'Zo.
Show them how these dogs bite,
Greg Monroe!

Stay Casual, my friends.

impressive

could we get our girl Ke$ha to rock this at halftime while buffoons like lordnick attempt to get on the jumbotron?

I dress like the Joker...

…clearly the buffoonery is not limited in its scope.

Can’t wait until tomorrow…

Tremendous

Might need to start a new metric on work hours wasted on CasualHoya. Clearly leading the charge against all other Hoya blogs.

Thanks for the vote of support

Yeah, we were planning to record, but it’s a long story. Maybe if we have time next week we might put something together to remember the game by.

Verizon son

Great lyric! So good, I stole it, and penned the following ditty…ahem

“The House of Verizon, Son”

There is a place in old DC
They call Verizon son
And it’s been the ruin of many a poor team
When they know the Hoyas have won

His father was a legend here
The fans just call him Three
He brought all the pride back to G’town
Down in old DC

Now the only cause of ‘dancing fools’
Is Peroni in lordnick
And the only chat with an NBA scout
Was by Hire Esherick

On that January day back in ’06
We told those Devils, "Be Gone!"
We danced with Roy, and Jeff, and Jon
On the court, at Verizon, son

Well his spiritual home is the Jersey Shore
He’s got J-Woww on the brain
Hear Casual now, down in New Orleans
As he laughs at Nikita’s pain

Well there is a place in old DC
They call Verizon son
And it’s been the ruin of many a poor team
When they know the Hoyas have won

my first appearance in a song!

I am truly touched, and not in the Catholic Church kind of way.

Casually.

Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!

Credit to Wade for that particular one. Best line in the song and the one he made up off the cuff that made us say “we need to do this”

nice

am I the only one that really liked the fan videos they used to put up on the big screen?

Even though the fans seemed to run out of creativity as the season progressed, I thought a lot of those were funny

It's not me, It's you
