Georgetown Beats The Spread! Defeats Seton Hall 85-73

Apparently that halftime speech John Thompson III gave Georgetown against UConn is still lingering in their heads.  Shooting 70% from the field, the Hoyas handily defeated Seton Hall 85-73 in Washington, DC.  Jason Clark had a career high 20 points to lead Georgetown.  Chris Wright played another complete game with 21 points, 7 assists, 4 steals and 1 turnover.  The consistency that is Austin Freeman added 16 points on 6-8 field goals.

Clark shut down Jeremy Hazell, holding him to 17 points, 8 of which came in the last 47 seconds of the game.  Hazell, who is disturbingly ugly in high definition, was unable to lead his team to victory with his mantra "Follow Hazell".

Now the fun starts for Georgetown.  They travel to Philadelphia to take on the #4 Villanova Wildcats on Sunday, then go to Pittsburgh on Wednesday to face the #20 Pitt Panthers.  If we get two wins there, you'll be sure to see more optimism here at the GLOBAL PHENOMENON that is Casual Hoya.

clark

Hard to overestimate how big jason clark was tonight. He completely shut down Hazell to the point that he couldn’t even take the stupid shots he’s known for. You have to have the ball to shoot and clark made sure he didn’t. was fun to watch him literally quit early in the second half. 20 points was gravy.

more stupid shots...

…rained down beer from the 400s into block 118, than rained down points from Hazell.

No need for the Miller grenades, kids.

South Orange Hoods....

thought thtat crowd in the 400s was from Seton Hall……. figured they were pissed because of all the tolls that they were going to have to pay on their way back to Jersey….. when confronted, however, they didn’t use the lame excuse that since they were from Jersey that they were actually rooting for Duke (and wearing blue t-shirts in Verizon Ctr)…

Cuse

The last time I actually watched a game at Verizon was back back in 2003-2004 when we still had Esherick and some of my professors were handing out petitions to have him fired. I went to see a game vs the Orange nutsacks and it was not what I would have called a home game for the Hoyas. The whole freaking stadium was orange. Disgusting. I assume things have gotten a little better after we got JT3.

The fact that some random girl got soaked is only relevant if she was hot.

Obviously...

Who said I'd ever root for Duke?

Do you have a learning disability? Are your old eyes too bad for you to read? I said I rooted for them until I was 14, never once did I say I’d root for them now.

It's not you, it's me.

Oh Henry

Great performance all around. But I was particularly pumped to see Henry rubbing some weak shots. When he is aggressive, he is a factor. This will help his confidence. Now lets go make Scottie Reynolds regret leaving DC.

Good win for us tonight

We were in control from midway in the 1st half til the end, with a Hall spurt at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd. Nice to have a game where we were in total control. And Hazell is UGLY. I mean, really, even his mother has to close her eyes to kiss him.

I ate the blue ones ... they taste like burning.

nice sims sighting

first game where he looked better than benimon. Obscene shooting tonight, take away sims 0-3 effort and everybody crushed it. hope we saved some shooting for this brutal stretch.

I would take our starting 5 against just about anyone, but I am not sure the bench will contribute 10 points combined at any point this season.
