Hoya Smack Ya: Georgetown Dominates Washington 74-66
Georgetown finished its whirlwind week by demolishing Washington 74-66 in the John Wooden Classic. The game was not nearly as close as the final score, as the Hoyas jumped all over the Huskies in the second half. Georgetown was led by a stellar performance by Julian Vaughn, who had 18 points on 7-9 shooting, as well as 5 rebounds. Greg Monroe added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Washington came in averaging 86 points per game but were held to 66 points, as the Hoyas forced 24 turnovers and brought back some Hoya Paranoia.
More to follow tomorrow, right now just enjoy the most complete performance by a Georgetown team in recent memory.

lordnick...?
Three time zones away from home, Georgetown had a strong fan contingent at the Honda Center, including fans of Hollis Thompson, a Los Angeles native — and a profoundly hairy gentleman who shaved his chest just enough to inscribe “HOYA” in silver paint.
Hoyas pull away from Huskies, roll by another ranked team
Good talk.
Swarming Defense Leads the Way
Depite a lot of turnovers by G’Town and really poor 3 point shooting…………….this wasn’t even close thanks to a defense that forced even more turnovers and consistent strong inside play on the offensive and defensive sides of the court. Julian was the man. The Hoyas managed to survive another bad game from Chris Wright (was I wrong or was Jason Clark handling the ball more in the second half with Wright hanging out a bit on the wing??). But perhaps most importantly, did you see the whole team smiling and cajoling each other as they held the Wooden trophy after the game. Nice dynamics to see.
With paranoia,
just finished watching off the DVR
hard not be excited after that. Pondexter is the best player west of Kansas and we made him look pretty average. When we rebound, we are very tough to beat.
It felt like JTIII should do his post game press conference with a cigar in hs mouth and answer every question with “I love it when a plan comes together”
Downside
Sims still MIA. Handling the press and hitting FTs. Chris Wright I think is trying to set a record for charges.
calm down
Everyone needs to gain some perspective here. Remember what we all thought after the damn UConn game last year? We were talking about top 5 rankings, big east championships, #1 seeds.
So we beat one of the better Pac-10 teams in a down year. Big freakin’ deal.
Was it a nice win? Yes.
Are the Hoyas better then we thought they were? Yes.
Am I a bit buzzed and in the back of a cab right now? Yes.
Casually.
