Georgetown Voice Preview
The Hoya releases their preview later this week, but the voice has released their preview of the Hoyas for the up coming season. Obviously, there is a a lot pf rehashing of last season and quotes from JTIII and the players about how hard it was to lose so much. I really can't wait to get away from that. This season needs to start like right now. This is the first preview that I have read though (of course, I might have missed a few, but whatever) that specifically highlights the renewed commitment to strength and conditioning for the team.
In the offseason they (Austin Freeman and Chris Wright) and their teammates rededicated themselves to strength and conditioning, attempting to address a critique from last season. In particular, Freeman—who appeared last year to be carrying some extra weight—slimmed down—he’s claimed to have dropped 12 pounds.
While some Hoyas have streamlined, others spent their summer bulking up in the weight room. Last year, Georgetown seemed to struggle with the physicality of the Big East, especially inside, as rebounding woes plagued the team all season. The Hoyas learned that they cannot win when they can be pushed around.
In any event, the team seems as anxious to erase the memory of last season as we all are. I can't wait to be in New Orleans for the Tulane game a week from tomorrow. They're going to be tested early and often after that so let's hope they get their feet underneath them quickly.
Stay Casual, my friends.
