Out of Hibernation: Georgetown Defeats Mount St. Mary's 83-62
Greg Monroe and Chris Wright led the undefeated Hoyas to victory on Monday night against the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's. You have no idea how long I have been waiting to type those words.
Monroe had his second double-double of the season as he complied 19 points and 11 rebounds while Wright shot 7-11 from the field and 4-5 from beyond the arc to add a season high 18 points.
"We're not ready to have fun yet," Georgetown coach John Thompson III said. "We have a long way to go, but I think at some point this year we're going to have fun." - The Hoya

That was much better
Still have a range of complaints (Wright took a few really awful shots, Monroe waited until the 2nd half to really assert himself and for some reason WON’T DUNK, team still manages to disappear for stretches of time, Vee Sanford didn’t see enough of Nikita’s minutes, no one on GU has that awesome Kid ’N Play haircut), but overall that game was much better.
Julian Vaughn is never going to be what you would call a polished player, but if he can do even half of what he did last night on a consistent basis, I’ll be pleased with his contributions. Jason Clark gains more of my confidence with each game. He didn’t score the same 19 points he had over the weekend, but he doesn’t take many bad shots and I feel very comfortable with the ball in his hands. Austin struggled a little bit, but still manages to be steady. Chris Wright took a couple really bad shots, but also had some great plays within the context of the offense. He and Jason Clark seemed to work really well together last night. Henry Sims is maddeningly inconsistent and I want so much more from him, but actually played ok last night. Not great, but better for sure. Greg had some great finishing stats, but remains a bit too passive for my taste. When he started to assert himself on the offensive end, it stopped the mini slide in the 2nd half and put the game out of reach. We need more stretches of play like that from him if we’re going to keep winning. Hollis Thompson played another really solid game. Nothing too spectacular, but very solid. When his shot is falling he is a difference maker for sure. Bennimon played and looked good. He won’t get the minutes or be the difference maker that Hollis will, but he could help with some frontcourt depth if he continues to prove serviceable. Vee Sanford is going to be a good fit with this team as well. I’d like to see him get more minutes.
Rebounding was awesome. I haven’t looked at the totals, but judging merely by sight it looked like we dominated them on the boards. Very strong effort there. Defense had another solid outing. I’d like to see fewer open outside shots because WVU, Syracuse and Villanova are all pretty lethal from distance, but they stretched the shot clock on a number of occasions and forced several tough shots that MSM managed to make. Overall, a very solid performance and I’m hoping for more games where they play like that.

Clark over Wright
I like Clark running the offense and Wright slashing so much better. Wright is too out of control for my taste. He gets those bug eyes, puts his head down, and completely forgets that there are 4 other people on his team

He also
Seems to think that the shot clock is 15 seconds. Most of his terrible shots last night were the type of shots you take as the shot clock is running down, except the shot clock wasn’t running down.
One thing I have noticed thus far, to his credit, is that most of his bad shots seem to come early in games. Once the offensive flow is established, he seems more willing to work within the offense (though he did take a few ill-advised shots later). The one exception to this (thus far anyway) was the Temple game when it took 39 minutes and 50 seconds to establish any kind of offensive flow so Wright took it upon himself to put the ball in the basket regardless of how poor his shot selection was.

Well…probably, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Wait, no, no I won’t. You’re absolutely right.
