Pretty Sure JT3 Did Not Say That...

Howard Megdal recently wrote about his impressions from Big East Media day and had this to say about his interview with Coach Thompson.

My conversation with John Thompson III, the coach at Georgetown, provided more insight into last season than this one, however. Thompson III seemed to have little in the way of concrete changes he planned to implement (or at least to share). He pointed out that center Greg Monroe had improved in every aspect of his game, but most of the difference he saw between last year's collapse and this year's prospects boiled down to, in order, "determination", "hunger", "chemistry", and several other words that made it clear he was not a huge fan of the players who departed, DaJuan Summers and Jessie Sapp.

Can guarantee you that Coach Thompson would never talk down about former players, especially to the media.  Maybe Megdal confused JT3 with Jim Calhoun, I know are many similarities.  One is polished, humble and polite.  The other is an angry and incoherent scumbag.  So similar.

We may not agree with anything you say, but we will fight to the death for your right to say it.

Yeah, I agree with you on that. Sapp had a great career minus his last season. Maybe he was just never meant to be the lone senior leader – the position that he assumed in last year’s season. With the right players (final four team), he shined brilliantly. And if Summers could have played the 3 spot his entire career, then he would have had more success in his last two years, in my opinion. Both are great talents, but probably better at being lead then leading.
